Trendy Hairstyles for Winter 2012

November 1st, 2011

By Tim Faber

If you are one of those who want to know about fads before they even happen and are wondering what trendy hairstyles for winter 2012 to prepare for then look no further. This article will give you the rundown of what is going to be hot next fall and winter.

Vintage Flairs

Vintage flares are going to be the trendy in 2012 mainly from the eras of the 1920s to the 1950s. What this means is that you are going to be seeing a lot of bobs and wavy pinup-like cuts. Think Marilyn Monroe, think Betty Page or better yet think Vargas girls in general. If you are going to go with this type of look remember to keep the color solid (one color) and natural as this will look the best with the type of cut.

Bold Bangs

Bold bangs are going to be among the styles this winter and will be popular all year long. You can have your bangs as dramatic side sweeping bangs or big and full blunt bangs meaning that they go straight across the forehead. Bangs are a great way to show confidence and pump up the sexiness factor. The other great thing about bangs is that they work with any type of locks; whether they are straight or curly, thick or thin bangs will highlight your face in all the right places.

Accessorize

Another way to stay on top is to accessorize your dos. This can be as simple as adding a glitzy hairclip or wearing a hairpiece to pump up your volume. Embellished clips, fancy combs or sexy extensions will be your ticket to turning heads for the whole year from spring through next winter. Dramatic makeup and bold dye choices will nicely compliment the accessories.

Short Is In!

The last style that is “in” we will share with you is to go short if you can. Cut off those long, bothersome locks and opt for a fresh and highly structures shorter cut like a pixie or a bob. You can play around with different layer lengths, angles and color combinations. From sassy spikes to the slick and stylish bob, short is the way to go this year. Many celebs are sporting the short style this year such as Alyssa Milano, Rachel Evan Wood and Keira Knightly.

Try any or all of these styles for this fall and winter to keep heads turning when you walk by. Whether you have short or long locks or prefer a classic or edgy cut, there is something out there for everyone to enjoy.

12 Week Blow Dry Hair Treatment

January 4th, 2011

By Nikki Meenlips

Now the festive season has finished with days of partying and frolicking behind us most of us are feeling a bit bloated and slightly unattractive. However there are a number of ways we can give ourselves a quick beauty boost. Before you all roll your eyes with the thought of trudging out to the gym – there are quicker and easier ways to get you feeling good about yourself – and top of that list has to be the 12 week blow dry.

The way the 12 week blow dry works is that a powerful conditioning treatment is applied to the hair which penetrates deep into the hair follicle restoring its strength and sleekness but without changing its genetic structure. Straight after the treatment you’ll notice how much easier your hair is to manage and how that dreaded “winter frizz” is kept at bay.

There are certain after care regimes that you need to follow too. It’s best to use a soft bristle brush to remove any knots or tangles before washing and conditioning. Also when you are washing and conditioning rub the lather in a downwards direction from scalp to hair end. Also when drying you hair use a soft towel and rather than ruffling your hair like days of old, try to be more gentle and dab the hair dry softly. When slightly damp you can then blow dry it straight and within a few minutes your “salon sleekness” will be restored for all to see!!

It’s also best to try to reduce the amount of heating products you use such as GHD’s or heating irons. The 12 week blow dry is proven to give the hair the necessary strength to maintain its straightness and as a result any heating tools will only lessen the integrity of that treatment.

Whilst on the cautionary front, it’s also important to note that stylists performing this type of hair procedure should ensure that they are working in a well ventilated area and that they protect themselves with gloves when handling the chemical to ensure their safety and health. If you are concerned about formaldehyde exposure then it is important to remember to raise the issues with your chosen hair salon you choose to have the 12 week blow dry in, and also you can find other ways of naturally boosting your hairs silkiness by eating foods rich in omega 3 and eating foods such as avocados and Brazil nuts.
